Your driver will receive post-procedure instructions. You’ll likely feel drowsy for several hours afterward — many patients nap when they get home and wake up feeling normal. We recommend drinking plenty of water in the hours after the appointment and staying as awake as reasonably possible once you’re home.
The sedative wears off on its own. By the following morning, you’ll feel completely back to normal — and you’ll likely have very little memory of the procedure itself. Most patients are genuinely surprised at how easy and pleasant the experience was.
Healing from the dental work itself is the same whether or not you were sedated. Sedation doesn’t affect recovery — it simply makes the appointment easier.
Sedation is most commonly chosen by patients who:
Interestingly, fewer than 5% of Dr. Kriston’s patients choose sedation. But here’s what’s remarkable: once a patient experiences sedation and sees how easy the visit goes, they often choose to try their next appointment without it. They’ve built the confidence to know that dental care doesn’t have to be something to fear. Dr. Kriston takes that as the best compliment — sedation broke the cycle of anxiety, and now the patient is comfortable on their own.

This section is for the patient who knows they need dental work but hasn’t been to a dentist in years — maybe a decade or more — because the anxiety is just too strong.
Dr. Kriston understands. And he has a suggestion: try sedation for just one straightforward procedure. Not a full mouth reconstruction. Not a complete smile makeover. Just one manageable appointment — a single crown, a single veneer, a root canal, or a deep cleaning — under sedation, so you can experience firsthand how calm, easy, and genuinely pleasant the visit can be.
That one appointment is often all it takes. Once you’ve felt what sedation dentistry is like, the barrier between you and the dental care you need — the dental care you deserve — simply falls away. Many of our most loyal, most confident patients started exactly this way.
You don’t have to be afraid anymore. And you don’t have to take our word for it. Just try it once.
